Danny Etling, a former Green Bay Packers quarterback, will lead his team in the USFL Conference championship game against the Birmingham Stallions this weekend.

Interestingly, these two teams met just last Saturday, where Etling’s Panthers narrowly lost to the Stallions by one point. The game concluded dramatically with Panthers kicker Jake Bates, who is garnering NFL interest, missing a 53-yard field goal as time expired.

Throughout the season, Etling has completed 69 of 114 passes for 787 yards, averaging 6.9 yards per pass, with three touchdowns and two interceptions. Additionally, he has rushed for 143 yards and scored two touchdowns.

Etling initially joined the Packers in 2021 as a one-week practice squad player when backup quarterback Jordan Love was on the COVID/reserve list. After the season, he signed a reserve/futures contract with Green Bay, which secured his place on the practice squad for the entire 2022 season. Etling signed another reserve/futures contract after that year but was ultimately released from the Packers on August 6, 2023.
