Reading FC owner Dai Yongge has begun exclusive negotiations for the sale of the club. The club announced on Tuesday that Yongge has signed a letter of intent with a prospective buyer, initiating a two-month period to finalize the details. This period will involve the transfer of Yongge’s shares in Reading FC, the Select Car Leasing Stadium, and the Bearwood Park training ground.
Reading FC will update fans as the process progresses, a move likely welcomed by supporters who have urged for a change in ownership to ensure the club’s stability.
Earlier discussions about selling the Bearwood Park training ground to Wycombe Wanderers were halted due to planning restrictions that limited its use to Reading FC.
In late February, the club faced a two-point penalty for repeated late payments to HMRC in 2023, imposed by an EFL Disciplinary Commission. An additional suspended two-point penalty was also issued, pending further late payments to HMRC or football creditors this season.
