Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark garnered 5.1 million viewers for her first regular-season professional basketball game, broadcast across three Walt Disney Co. platforms.
Airing on ESPN2, Disney+, and ESPN+, the game became the most-watched WNBA game on ESPN platforms. Clark scored 20 points but committed 10 turnovers in a 92-71 loss to the Connecticut Sun.
The Iowa native has consistently drawn high viewership since her college days, including 18.9 million viewers for the national championship game against South Carolina in April.
The impact of the 2024 WNBA draft class is already evident, with the league announcing that players will now travel on chartered planes instead of commercial flights.
Currently, the WNBA is negotiating a new media deal, with the existing agreement generating approximately $60 million annually.
