CBS joins the Aaron Rodgers critique by issuing a disrespectful quarterback ranking, a sentiment echoed by many fans. Despite being regarded as one of the game’s best quarterbacks, Rodgers’ Achilles injury has raised concerns about his ability to lead the New York Jets to a championship and reclaim his status as an elite signal-caller.

Despite these doubts, Rodgers’ track record should warrant a spot in the top 10 quarterbacks in the league. However, CBS Sports ranked him as the 11th-best quarterback, narrowly edging out Tua Tagovailoa of the Miami Dolphins and Jared Goff of the Detroit Lions. This ranking is especially surprising given that quarterbacks like Brock Purdy of the San Francisco 49ers were ranked higher, with Purdy securing the second spot overall.

Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles and Jordan Love, Rodgers’ successor in Green Bay, were also ranked ahead of him, despite Hurts’ late-season struggles and Love’s limited experience. This discrepancy in ranking suggests that one standout season outweighs years of MVP-level performance from Rodgers.

Despite these rankings, Rodgers will have a formidable arsenal at his disposal, including talented wide receivers Mike Williams, Malachi Corley, and Garrett Wilson. Additionally, a revamped offensive line led by Tyron Smith, Morgan Moses, and Olu Fashanu will provide ample protection.

Rodgers’ decline in the rankings from being universally recognized as a top-five quarterback to barely making it into the top 11 is seen as unjust by many. However, another MVP-caliber season from Rodgers could potentially force a reassessment of his ranking mid-season.
