Reporter Gregg Doyel, known for his controversial behavior during Caitlin Clark’s introductory press conference, is facing consequences as he will not be covering the Indiana Fever or rookie sensation Caitlin Clark when their season begins on May 14.
Following widespread criticism for his actions, Doyel has been suspended for two weeks by the Indianapolis Star’s owners, Gannett, and by the Star itself. This decision was confirmed by journalist Bob Kravitz on May 7. Additionally, Gannett Co., Inc., the parent company of the Indianapolis Star, enforced the suspension, as reported by WISH News 8 on the same day. It’s worth noting that Doyel’s absence from the Indiana Fever coverage extends throughout the entire upcoming season, as reported by Fox News 59.
This move to exclude Doyel from the Fever beat follows a series of inappropriate questions he posed specifically to Caitlin Clark during the press conference, culminating in his removal from covering the team altogether.
