Green Bay Packers Make Announcement; Key Starter From 2023 Season Appears To Be On Thin Ice.
An essential starter from the 2023 season appears to be on shaky footing heading into the summer after the Green Bay Packers made an announcement on Tuesday evening. The Packers are in the process of ballooning their offseason roster to 90 players.
When the Green Bay Packers selected Jordan Love in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, it was immediately criticized as a poor choice. Many observers felt this way at the time of the selection.
Instead of focusing on building around their star quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the Packers opted for Love, a prospect from Utah State known for his tendency to make mistakes, with the intention of having him sit and learn for a while. This decision meant passing on some talented wide receivers in the draft. It appeared that the Packers were overly fixated on replicating the success they had when they selected Rodgers as the successor to Brett Favre, even though Favre was still with the team.
The only potential justification for the short-term criticism of selecting Love was the hope that he could eventually develop into a top-tier quarterback. However, Love has struggled significantly since getting his opportunity to start, and some argue he may currently be one of the worst starting quarterbacks in the league.
In a recent game against the Minnesota Vikings, the Packers’ offensive performance was abysmal. Despite playing at home against a relatively average Vikings defense, the Packers struggled to move the ball effectively. Love threw a costly interception, contributing to the team’s struggles.
