The Green Bay Packers are exploring various options regarding the future of Christian Watson, including considering Xavier Legette as a potential replacement in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft. In an interview conducted by The Draft Network, Legette disclosed his visit to Green Bay as part of the top-30 prospects. Despite meeting with numerous NFL teams, the Packers’ interest in Legette stands out notably.
Standing at 6’1″ and weighing 221 pounds, Legette represents one of the most promising receiver prospects in terms of height, weight, and speed in this draft class. Should the Packers harbor doubts about Watson’s ability to regain his peak performance or maintain consistent health, Legette emerges as a logical candidate for long-term succession, particularly on Day 2 of the draft.
The Green Bay Packers’ intentions regarding acquiring a wide receiver remain uncertain, yet few prospects align with the team’s typical criteria as well as Legette does.
Coming from a notable high school career in South Carolina, Legette was regarded as one of the state’s top talents. Despite being a 4-star recruit, he received offers from only a select few Power Five programs, eventually opting to stay in-state and play for the Gamecocks.
Although his rise to prominence was gradual, Legette made a significant impact in 2023, tallying 71 receptions for 1,255 yards and seven touchdowns, which earned him second-team All-SEC recognition.
