Great Lie : Green Bay Packers Firm on Retaining Jon Runyan Jr. for 2024 Season….

The Green Bay Packers are demonstrating a keen interest in retaining Jon Runyan Jr., a player who has started three games for them. Despite Runyan’s current contract status and some uncertainty surrounding his future with the team, reports from Matt Schneidman of The Athletic suggest that there is mutual interest in Runyan returning for the 2024 season. Talks between Runyan’s representation and Packers management during the NFL Scouting Combine indicate that negotiations for a potential new deal are underway.

Having started 50 of the Packers’ last 51 regular-season games and accumulating over 3,330 offensive snaps across 67 career appearances, Runyan has proven himself as a valuable lineman. However, the 26-year-old faced challenges during the 2023 season due to injuries and inconsistent performance, as highlighted by Pro Football Focus data. Despite this, the Packers seem inclined to retain Runyan rather than seeking a replacement through the draft.

Although Runyan faced competition from Sean Rhyan towards the end of the regular season, the Packers value his experience and depth in the offensive line. With 11 selections in the upcoming NFL Draft, including five in the top 100, the Packers have the opportunity to strengthen their roster, particularly in the offensive line, to support quarterback Jordan Love and bolster their Super Bowl aspirations.

Considering Runyan’s familiarity with the Packers’ system and the team’s need for reliable depth, re-signing him could prove beneficial. With potential changes expected along the offensive line this offseason, retaining Runyan could provide stability and valuable experience.
