DONE DEAL CONFIRMED: NFL announces Green Bay has altered their strategy for one of their starting players and have made a significant move by signing a defensive lineman…

Green Bay’s running back, AJ Dillon, might see a shift in his role this upcoming season, as suggested by Head Coach Matt LaFleur:

“His pass protection skills have notably improved—this past year showcased his best performance in that regard. We’re familiar with what AJ Dillon brings to the table,” stated LaFleur.

“I believe there’s potential for him to explore versatility moving forward, transitioning into a more adaptable role beyond just being a traditional tailback.”

“AJ is someone who could handle a significant workload. Despite facing some challenges last season, he displayed resilience,” added LaFleur.

With the possibility of the Packers acquiring another running back in the draft, especially if they have high hopes for second-year player Emanuel Wilson, Dillon may face competition for his roster spot. Embracing a more versatile role within LaFleur’s offensive scheme could enhance Dillon’s prospects.

His prowess in pass blocking is often overlooked, a factor that could aid in securing his place on the roster.

Although Dillon encountered struggles during Jones’ absence last season, resulting in a career-low average of 3.4 yards per carry, he has consistently served as a valuable role player in recent years.

According to a report, Dillon’s success rate, a metric reflecting Green Bay’s win/loss grading system, has been impressive. Among running backs with at least 275 carries from 2021 to 2023, Dillon ranked first in the NFL with a success rate of 55.9 percent. Even in the disappointing 2023 season, his success rate of 50.0 percent ranked him 10th out of 41 running backs with at least 110 carries.

Dillon’s role and usage in the 2024 season will be closely monitored, given his potential for impactful contributions.
