Former Green Bay Packers Tight End To 1-Year Deal.
The Jacksonville Jaguars, once the dominant force in the AFC South, are now facing competition from the rising Houston Texans. Despite their past glory, the Jaguars have been active in the offseason, making several signings in a bid to bolster their roster. While they haven’t made headline-grabbing acquisitions, they believe that even smaller signings can make a significant impact. Their latest addition is former Green Bay Packers tight end Josiah Deguara.
Deguara, a third-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, struggled to establish himself in Green Bay, managing just 436 receiving yards and two touchdowns over four seasons. Although initially brought in as a blocking tight end, he failed to excel in that role as well. The Jaguars hope to unlock his potential, especially given his challenging tenure in Green Bay, where he was overshadowed by other tight ends.
Meanwhile, the Houston Texans are emerging as a formidable force in the AFC South, led by promising quarterback CJ Stroud. They have been aggressive in the offseason, strengthening their roster to support their young quarterback. The Jaguars, on the other hand, aim to bounce back from a disappointing 2023 season. With Trevor Lawrence leading the team and a solid defense in place, they are poised to compete at a higher level.
The Jaguars’ aspirations hinge in part on their ability to maximize Deguara’s potential, hoping for a more successful stint than he experienced with the Packers. Ultimately, the question remains: Can the Jaguars reclaim their postseason status in 2024.
