The Green Bay Packers have undergone significant changes in their wide receiver roster in recent years, either through trades or contract decisions, marking a transition to a new era for the team in that position.
However, it appears that one former Packers wide receiver may now be seeking a new team once again.
Reports indicate that the New York Jets are actively seeking to trade wide receiver Allen Lazard in efforts to bolster their receiving corps, as shared by Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic.
Lazard is slated to earn $10 million this season, and cutting him would save the Jets just over $3 million. Given his underwhelming performance in 2023, exploring trade opportunities could be a prudent move.
Despite initial optimism, Lazard’s output in his time with the Jets was disappointing, with just 23 receptions for 311 yards and one touchdown.
It’s somewhat surprising that the Jets are considering parting ways with Lazard without affording him a full season alongside quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
During his tenure with Rodgers, spanning 57 games, Lazard has recorded 170 receptions for 2,262 yards and 19 touchdowns. Considering the Jets’ aim to bounce back from a challenging 2023 season, maintaining continuity on the field would seem imperative.
