BREAKING: Giants re-sign a linebacker in free agency…

The New York Giants invested significantly in enhancing their lineup during the initial stages of free agency. They orchestrated a significant trade to bolster their pass rush by acquiring Brian Burns and reinforced their offensive line with strategic free-agent acquisitions.

Currently, the Giants are focusing on rounding out their roster depth with additional, albeit quieter, signings such as Jalen Mills and Isaiah McKenzie. It’s imperative for them not to overlook the linebacker position, which showcased notable depth in the 2023 season—an unusual occurrence for the team. To maintain this depth, the Giants must prioritize re-signing linebacker Isaiah Simmons during this offseason.

The rationale behind re-signing LB Isaiah Simmons lies in his pivotal role during the 2023 season. Alongside standout performers Bobby Okereke and Micah McFadden, Simmons emerged as a key asset for the Giants’ defensive unit. Despite assuming a more specialized role, acquired through a trade with the Arizona Cardinals prior to the season, Simmons effectively fulfilled his duties, displaying reliability and growth within the team.

Throughout the season, Simmons contributed 50 combined tackles, two tackles for loss, and one sack. Additionally, he showcased his playmaking ability with one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and a game-sealing interception returned for a touchdown against the Washington Commanders in Week 11.
