According to NFL network insider Tom Pelissero, the New Orleans Saints have restructured defensive end Carl Granderson’s contract, ensuring his compensation for the 2024 season. This adjustment has resulted in a $7.2 million increase in available cap space for the team.
Despite this alteration, the Saints have yet to achieve full compliance with the salary cap requirements. With this maneuver, they are estimated to be approximately $34 million away from achieving positive cap figures.
Last September, Carl Granderson inked a new contract with the Saints, potentially valued at up to $52 million. The deal spans five years, extending his tenure with the team until the conclusion of the 2028 season. During the previous season, Granderson showcased his prowess with 8.5 sacks, 44 solo tackles, 34 assisted tackles, and 14 tackles for loss. Having joined the Saints as an undrafted free agent in 2019, Granderson has established himself as a valuable asset to the team’s defensive unit.
