New York Jets Fans Call for Team to Sign Soon-to-Be-Released Former Aaron Rodgers Teammate.

New York Jets fans want the team to sign David Bakhtiari, Aaron Rodgers' former teammate with the Green Bay Packers

Green Bay Packers defensive tackle David Bakhtiari (69) blocks Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Dawuane Smoot (94)) as quarterback Aaron Rodgers (12) looks to pass Sunday, November 15, 2020, at Lambeau Field in Green Bay.

One of the worst kept secrets surrounding the New York Jets is that Aaron Rodgers had, and still has, a list of players around the NFL that he would like to play with now that he is no longer with the Green Bay Packers. Some of these players are current or former Packers players themselves.

While Rodgers and head coach Robert Saleh deny the existence of such a list, no one believes them. And how could they? How else does one explain the number of former Packers players currently on the Jets’ roster?

Former Green Bay Packers Players on the New York Jets Roster

Allen Lazard was signed to a four-year $44 million contract in an attempt to lure Rodgers to New York. Nathaniel Hackett was hired as offensive coordinator for the exact same reason. After the trade, the Jets also brought in Randall Cobb, Billy Turner, Tim Boyle, and Adrian Amos.

Of these players, none had a good season with the Jets in 2023. Lazard and Cobb woefully underperformed and found themselves to be healthy scratches sometimes late in the season. Turner could not crack the playing rotation of one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL. Amos continued his downward trend that started during his third season in Green Bay and was released midseason.. Boyle, somehow, started a couple of games for the Jets, threw one touchdown and four interceptions, and was released before the year was over.
