Auburn’s 2024 Football Coaching Staff Salaries Revealed.

Georgia at Auburn 2023

Auburn’s coaching staff for the 2024 football season seems to be finalized with the appointment of Vontrell King-Williams as the defensive tackles coach. The team has undergone some changes since the 2023 season due to various reasons such as firings, resignations, and coaches accepting new positions.

As of February 14, Auburn’s coaching lineup includes:

– Head Coach: Hugh Freeze
– Offensive Coordinator/Running Backs Coach: Derrick Nix
– Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers Coach: D.J. Durkin
– Co-Defensive Coordinator/Safeties Coach: Charles Kelly
– Quarterbacks Coach: Kent Austin
– Wide Receivers Coach: Marcus Davis
– Tight Ends Coach: Ben Aigamaua
– Offensive Line Coach: Jake Thornton
– Defensive Tackles Coach: Vontrell King-Williams
– Edge Rushers Coach: Josh Aldridge
– Cornerbacks Coach: Wesley McGriff

The total amount allocated for assistant coach salaries at Auburn in 2024 has decreased compared to 2023. In 2024, Auburn plans to pay its assistant coaches a total of $6.425 million, down from $6.91 million in the previous year, marking a $485,000 reduction.

This reduction is attributed partly to the departure of Auburn’s four highest-paid assistant coaches in 2023: defensive coordinator Ron Roberts, offensive coordinator Philip Montgomery, running backs coach Cadillac Williams, and safeties coach Zac Etheridge. The salaries of these coaches were notably high, with Roberts and Montgomery each earning at least $1 million last season, and Williams receiving $900,000. In contrast, in 2024, Auburn only has one assistant coach earning over $1 million, with no others reaching Williams’ previous $900,000 salary.

Several retained assistant coaches received salary increases as part of their updated contracts. The breakdown of salaries for the 2024 season is as follows:

– Hugh Freeze: $6.5 million
– D.J. Durkin: $1.2 million
– Charles Kelly: $875,000
– Derrick Nix: $800,000
– Wesley McGriff: $650,000
– Jake Thornton: $600,000
– Josh Aldridge: $500,000
– Vontrell King-Williams: $500,000
– Marcus Davis: $450,000
– Ben Aigamaua: $450,000
– Kent Austin: $400,000

Additionally, all assistant coaches at Auburn have identical performance bonus structures based on various achievements such as winning the national championship, finishing as the national runner-up, making it to national semifinal games, participating in the College Football Playoff, and competing in various bowl games, along with bonuses for winning or participating in the SEC Championship Game.
