Green Bay Packers are anticipated to substitute David Bakhtiari with a star player costing $68 million.
The Green Bay Packers are considering replacing left tackle David Bakhtiari, who is facing injury issues and carries a significant salary cap hit. With two second-round picks from the Aaron Rodgers trade, the Packers may use one to acquire a replacement. Bleacher Report’s Alex Ballentine suggests targeting Garett Bolles, an experienced left tackle from the Denver Broncos, in a trade. Bolles, though 31 years old, has shown strong performance in pass-blocking, making him a potential fit to protect Jordan Love’s blindside.
However, acquiring Bolles presents challenges. The Broncos may trade him due to salary cap concerns, but the Packers also face salary cap constraints and may not be willing to give up a valuable draft pick for a short-term solution. Furthermore, Bolles has only one year left on his contract, making him a temporary fix.
The Packers have alternatives, including 2023 starter Rasheed Walker and potential draft picks. With multiple early-round selections in the 2024 NFL draft, they have the opportunity to find a long-term solution at left tackle. The priority is to build a strong core around Love for the future.
