Draymond Green voiced his dissatisfaction with the newly implemented 65-game rule after Embiid’s injury during Tuesday’s game. He suggested that Embiid played despite not being fully fit due to the rule mandating participation for season-end awards. Stephen A. Smith responded to Green’s remarks on Wednesday’s ESPN Broadcast, stating that Green failed to acknowledge the rule’s origins.
Following the injury update on Embiid, Green criticized Smith during a new episode of the “Draymond Green Show” Podcast. He argued that the NBA should have scrutinized Embiid’s reasons for missing games and prevented him from playing while injured.
Meanwhile, during a close game against the Los Angeles Lakers on January 28, Green and Stephen Curry showcased their prowess on the court. Despite the Warriors’ loss in overtime, Curry amassed 46 points, while Green contributed significantly with 14 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 3 steals. Green later hailed himself and Curry as the “Deadliest one-two punch in the NBA” on social media.
Green and Curry, integral members of the Golden State Warriors, have clinched four championships together. Green’s season has been marked by fluctuations, including a suspension by the NBA for an altercation with Minnesota Timberwolves’ Rudy Gobert. Following counseling, Green has returned to action, aiding the Warriors in improving defensively amidst their recent challenges as they aim for a playoff berth.
