The Daily Record reports that the Bhoys are ‘closing in’ on a loan-to-buy deal for the Canaries striker, who wants a switch to Scotland over other options in English and European football.

Idah has scored 17 times in 115 appearances for Norwich after breaking through from their youth ranks.

He’s also earned 22 caps with the Republic of Ireland national team, netting three times against Gibraltar, New Zealand and the Netherlands.

Interestingly, it’s thought that Norwich are now looking to move for Bologna striker Sydney van Hooijdonk, who has been heavily linked with Celtic over the last few months.

At 6ft2in, he does provide a different physical profile in that area of that pitch that Celtic’s wingers can capitalise on.

It’ll be interesting to hear how Brendan Rodgers expects him to fit in if the deal goes through, with the manager explicit that he is interested in adding players to the squad he believes in rather than simply boosting numbers.

Celtic are thought to also be in the market for a left-back in the final two days of the winter window, which closes on Thursday night.
