The annual price of a Packer Central player is based on the impact of the salary cap. Why? Because boundaries are an important part of creating a list. The best teams excel with huge star budgets and significant contributions from players initially signed. What a year it has been for the Green Bay Packers wide receiver. The youngest group in the NFL was also the least expensive group. Seven players contributed. Their total salaries were about $7.1 million. Surprisingly, 28 people were more expensive. Davante Adams himself cost the Raiders nearly $14.7 million. Part 4 of our annual recommendations focuses on the best crowdfunders money can buy. Note: Stats analyzed by Pro Football Focus.
Christian WatsonMaximum in 2023: $2,100,233. Ranking by position: 79th according to OverTheCap.com. It was a big disappointment. After an impressive performance as a rookie, Watson was expected to be the next star. (Maybe so.) A pair of hamstring injuries limited him to nine games. So after catching 41 passes for 611 yards (14.9 avg.) and seven touchdowns in 14 games as a rookie second-round pick in 2022, Watson will catch 28 passes for 412 yards (15, 1 average) and five touchdowns in 2023. caught. His catch rate increased. Catch per catch rate increased from 62.1% to 52.8% and from 6.4% to 4.1%. At least I dropped the drop rate from 10.9% (5 drops) to 6.3 (2 drops). While coming off big games against Detroit and Kansas City, Watson suffered another injury and missed the final six games of the regular season. To be clear, the Packers and Watson need to work on weak hamstrings. Watson didn’t come into training camp by accident.
The Packers’ receiving corps is amazing, but Watson puts the fear of God into his defensive coordinator. Notable #1: Including the playoffs, Love threw 12 pass interceptions to receivers. Six of them were dedicated to Watson, including the last photo of the 49ers’ playoff loss. Caveat #2: He’s caught just six passes for 50 yards in 23 career games. When it comes to price, yes. The same goes for injuries. A player’s greatest asset is accessibility.Class: D-plus. Jayden ReedMaximum in 2023: $1,305,596. Position ranking: 107 according to OverTheCap.com. Reed looks to be a potential second-round pick in this year’s draft. At No. 45, the Packers traded him to the Detroit Lions, who took cornerback Brian Branch. Branches are like pins, but there should be no “what if” questions. The sixth receiver on the board, Reed ranks sixth in the draft class with 64 receptions, fifth with 793 yards, second with eight touchdowns and fourth with 2.05 yards per route through 16 games. He became the first rookie in NFL history to have at least 60 receptions, 750 receiving yards, eight receptions, 100 rushing yards and two touchdowns.Despite missing time due to various injuries, Reed broke Sterling Sharp’s franchise record for receptions and led the team with 10 total touchdowns. He led team receivers in catches (68.1%) and drops (4.5%, 3 drops) and was second in missed tackles (6) and YAC per catch (5.4). Reed is hotter than a $2 steak, but better than Randall Cobb in his prime. The only thing keeping Reed from catching 100 passes for 1,000 yards next year could be the overall depth at the position.Grade: A-minus. romeo dubbingMaximum in 2023: $1,040,979. It’s been a really weird year for the Dubs. Dubs and Christian Watson, the so-called veterans, had to withdraw from the game. Instead, aside from scoring a game-winning touchdown against the Saints in Week 3 and a loss to the Lions in Week 4 (nine catches, 95 yards), he hasn’t made a real difference for the Dubs. Most of the season. The Dubs’ 2022 fourth-round pick finished his sophomore season with 59 receptions for 674 yards (11.4 avg.) and eight touchdowns. He had less than 40 yards in 12 of 17 games and had a 61.5 percent catch percentage. In Week 17 at Minnesota, he caught three passes for 28 yards. He didn’t catch a pass until suffering a pectoral injury in Week 18 against Chicago. In 30 career games, he never had a 100-yard game and just once an 80-plus-yard game. He then destroyed the Cowboys in the wild card round with six catches for 151 yards and added four receptions for 84 yards against the 49ers.Dubs are not pitch-centric players. Even if he misses two shots, he’s not really a threat. 2.3 YAC per reception ranked 94th among 100 receivers targeted at least 36 times. He was guilty of giving up too much focus (5 drops, 7.8%). But the Dubs run weak, ankle-breaking routes. And with a 13 out of 25 success rate for competitive fishing opportunities, your chances of landing one are slim to none.Class B. Samori ToureMaximum in 2023: $867,309. Ranking by position: No. 157 according to OverTheCap.com. Toure, a 2022 seventh-round pick, edged out Bo Melton for the final receiving spot, but failed to make an impact. After catching 5-of-10 passes for 82 yards in 11 games as a rookie, Toure went 8-of-18 for 78 yards in 11 games in 2023 (a team-high 44.4%). He was a healthy scratch for most of the second half of the season.
At this point, it would be disappointing to see him on the 2024 roster. Class: D.Don Taibion weekMaximum in 2023: $825,636. Ranking by position: No. 160 according to OverTheCap.com.Weeks had a rough junior season at Virginia, but was disappointing as a senior. So who created the Packers?
