Unsurprisingly, he will try to cash in this offseason after leading the Buffalo Bills to the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs in sacks. The Bills are sure to speak with Floyd in an attempt to sign him to a deal for at least next season. However, don’t expect the defensive star to accept a deal that is less than what his agent believes he is worth on the open market.
“For me, I always follow the money. I would rather be here, but that is what it is. It is a business. “I’m going to go wherever my agent thinks we can get the most money from,” Floyd stated while cleaning out his locker at the team’s facility earlier this week.
The Buffalo Bills are $50 million over the salary cap heading into the summer, making it unlikely that Floyd will be re-signed. Even if they make the necessary moves to go under the cap and enhance the squad, Floyd will most likely receive an offer that a pass-rush-needy team would be unable to match.
Floyd was taken ninth overall by the Chicago Bears in the 2016 NFL Draft. He spent four seasons in Chicago before joining the Los Angeles Rams for the next three, including a championship season in 2021. Floyd signed a one-year contract worth $7 million with the Bills earlier this year.
