Draymond Green was not a fan of Chris Paul.
If there’s one player no one ever expected to join the Warriors, it’s Chris Paul – not even Draymond Green. In fact, Green was not a fan of Chris Paul at all, and the feeling pretty easily went both ways.
Chris Paul was a guest on the newest episode of The Draymond Green Show, where both he and Green opened up about the bad blood between each other and the trade that brought Paul to the Warriors. Chris Paul was the number one player that Green didn’t want to play with.
“See, I kid you not — God works in mysterious ways — [my friend] asks me sitting at the wine dinner, ‘Who’s your least favorite player in the NBA? Who could you not see yourself?” Green said. “I said, ‘There’s zero chance I’m ever playing with Chris Paul. It’s not happening, it cannot happen Virgil.'”
“Two days later, I get a call from Mike Dunleavy, and I’m taking off,” Green said. “I’m like, ‘Mike I’mma hit you when I land. I’m flying.’ He like, ‘It’s a little urgent. Kind of need to know. We got a chance to, you know, bring in Chris Paul.’ And I was like, ‘Listen, Chris Paul is a competitor. Chris Paul is a dawg. Chris Paul wanna win. Chris Paul plays basketball the right way. We can figure it out. We ain’t been the best of friends, but we can figure it out.'”
