Malaspina reacts to signing pro deal and wearing the armband for Milan Primavera
After signing his first professional contract, AC Milan Primavera midfielder Mattia Malaspina answered a few questions about the season and his feelings after signing his new contract.
The current talent attached to Milan’s Primavera squad is exciting. From Kevin Zeroli to Jan-Carlo Simic, there have been several to make their senior team debuts under Stefano Pioli, and there can be hope that Malaspina can follow in the path that those before him have taken.
The midfielder, born in 2005, has been with the club for 10 years now and has developed at a very quick rate. Given he has captained the Primavera side this season, there is a lot of hope for the young midfielder, and with him being given his first professional deal until 2026, this shows clearly.
Malaspina sat down with Milan TV to discuss the new deal amongst a range of other topics, and his words were relayed by Pianeta Milan.
“We started well with the right spirit. We wanted to start as we left 2023. We are strong and have clear goals. We are also ready for the next games. I am satisfied but not fulfilled.
“I am a midfielder who covers the field, changes pace and overcomes opponents. I work for the team and always help my teammates. When someone is in need we help each other,” he said.
“It’s part of Milan, I’ve been here since I was around 10 years old. Signing the first contract was an honour.”
On Abate and the season…
“We are not afraid, we are ready. With the coach (Abate), we all have a very good relationship. I’m ready for him and for the team. Unfortunately, we didn’t get through in the Coppa Italia. We want to be competitive in the league.
“The Youth League doesn’t scare us. I’ve been playing here for 10 years, it’s really an honour for me. I’m happy to wear the armband. I am ready, and we are ready. We want to win.”
