After a breakout 2022 campaign, Luis De Avila is continuing that success this season in a big way.

Atlanta Braves v Washington Nationals

Entering the 2023 season, there was one prospect in particular for the Atlanta Braves that you could argue was not necessarily getting as much attention or hype when compared to some of the other names in the club’s system – Luis De Avila.

However, as mentioned prior to the start of this season, De Avila was a name to know as we entered 2023, and that has certainly not changed one bit due to his impressive campaign so far with Double-A Mississippi.

Currently the Braves’ No. 26 overall prospect according to MLB Pipeline, as well as the No. 3 left-hander behind only Dylan Dodd and Adam Shoemaker, De Avila is in the midst of the best single-season of his professional career, which as mentioned previously, has come entirely in Double-A.

Since the Braves took De Vila in the minor league phase of the Rule 5 draft in December 2021, he has showed life. He spent last season with High-A Rome, recording a 3.49 ERA that was best in the South Atlantic League. He struck out 129 in 126.1 innings.

The No. 28 Braves prospect spun his second consecutive no-hit start for Double-A Mississippi, going six innings without allowing a knock and leading the Braves to a 3-1 win over the Tennessee Smokies.
