Braves broadcaster Brandon Gaudin named finalist for Sportscaster of the Year.

Atlanta’s newest addition to the broadcast team is already being recognized as one of the best sportscasters for 2023

Bally Sports, the broadcast home of the Atlanta Braves, has announced that broadcaster Brandon Gaudin has been named a finalist for National Sports Media Association’s Sportscaster of the Year award.

Gaudin, 39, just completed his first season as the primary television play-by-play man for the Atlanta Braves after longtime broadcaster Chip Caray left to go take the head job for the St. Louis Cardinals.

(Speaking to the St. Louis Post Dispatch ($) in late September, Caray admitted having “no regrets” about leaving Atlanta for St. Louis. He was following in the footsteps of his father Skip, who started off doing Cardinals radio broadcasts before moving to the television side with Atlanta.)

But Braves fans have been happy with the change to Gaudin, who finished just outside the top ten in a fan broadcaster survey over the summer.

Gaudin, who grew up an Atlanta Braves fan, famously still has the letter he wrote then-broadcaster Skip Caray at the age of 13, asking for advice on how to break into broadcasting.
