Huge Boost: Braves signed a Legend To Bolster Starting Rotation…

Braves Linked To Ex-Red Sox Hurler As Possible Option To Bolster Starting Rotation.

Dodgers trade deadline: LHP Eduardo Rodriguez invokes no-trade clause - True Blue LA

Could the Braves actually land the former Red Sox stud this offseason?

The Atlanta Braves were the best regular season team in baseball in 2023 but need to make some additions this offseason.

Atlanta won 104 games in 2023 but was upset in the National League Division Series by the Philadelphia Phillies. The Braves’ biggest roster need this offseason — like many teams — is improving the starting rotation. Atlanta has been linked to multiple top-tier arms this offseason and one player who could be a fit is former Boston Red Sox and Detroit Tigers hurler Eduardo Rodríguez.

“Atlanta needs starting pitching depth after trading Kyle Wright and Michael Soroka this offseason,” Bowden said. “Rodríguez would be a good fit with the Braves and could slot into the middle of their rotation. He went 13-9 with a 3.30 ERA and 1.153 WHIP in 26 starts this past season with Detroit.”

Rodríguez had arguably the best season of his career in 2023 with a 3.30 ERA in 26 starts across 152 2/3 innings pitched. The big lefty has been steady since joining the Detroit Tigers in free agency ahead of the 2022 season and would be a very solid addition for the Braves.

The 30-year-old was mentioned in trade rumors throughout the 2023 season but ended up staying in Detroit. He ended up declining a trade to the Los Angeles Dodgers and remained with the Tigers. Although this is the case, Rodríguez opted out of his contract with Detroit and entered free agency. He likely will have a solid market and it wouldn’t be too surprising to see the Braves look to make a move.
