Huge Boost: The Bills Star is Awarded AFC Special Teams Player of the…

Bills FB Reggie Gilliam named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week.

Fullback Reggie Gilliam has been named the Week 11 AFC Special Teams Player of the Week after his performance against the New York Jets.

On the first play of the game, Gilliam executed a textbook open field tackle on Jets returner Xavier Gipson, forcing a fumble to give the Bills the ball deep in Jets territory and an eventual successful field goal attempt. The fumble was recovered by tight end Quintin Morris.

The sideline erupted after Gilliam’s forced turnover, and quarterback Josh Allen credited the fullback with providing an early spark for the Bills offense, which had its best game since Week 4.

“Reggie Gilliam set the tone on play one. That’s what it came down to,” Allen said after the game.

It’s Gilliam’s first special teams player of the week award and he’s the first Bills player to earn the honor since Nyheim Hines in Week 18 of the 2022 season.

For Gilliam’s teammates, their excitement came from the long hours they have seen Gilliam put in on the practice field.

“Gritty. That’s what Reggie is,” Spencer Brown said after the game. “Never complains about not getting the ball, does his job and really executes on a high level.”

In 11 games, Gilliam has three total tackles on kickoffs and has played a major role on special teams in each of his four seasons in Buffalo.
