Steelers Lose Three Starters for Browns Game.

Should Steelers backup cornerbacks audition for bigger roles on defense?

The Pittsburgh Steelers defense is beat up heading into Week 11.

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers will be without three defensive starters when they face the Cleveland Browns in Week 11.

For a third week in a row, the Steelers will be without Minkah Fitzpatrick due to a hamstring injury. While he continued to “battle” his way back to the field, he did not practice with the team for another week. The Steelers hoped he’d be a game-time decision, but instead, they’ve ruled him out heading into the weekend.

Keanu Neal followed suit. After leaving Week 10 with a rib injury, Neal did not practice throughout the week and was ruled out for the game. It’s unknown how severe the injury to his ribs is or how much time he’ll be forced to miss.

Without Fitzpatrick or Neal, the Steelers will call up Trenton Thompson from the practice squad. Thompson is expected to start alongside Damontae Kazee, with Elijah Riley and Miles Killebrew adding depth. Patrick Peterson has also spent the week working at safety.

Defensive tackle Montravius Adams will miss his second consecutive game due to an ankle injury. Despite making his return to practice, he participated just one day this week, on a limited capacity, and will remain sidelined for the Steelers.

Cam Heyward (groin) and Diontae Johnson (thumb) are both active despite missing practice time earlier in the week.
