Atlanta Braves shut out of Gold Glove awards for 2023.
Major League Baseball and Rawlings have announced the winners of the 2023 Gold Gloves, and no Atlanta Braves were able to take home a trophy.
Austin Riley was a finalist at third base, with the award going to Pittsburgh’s Ke’Bryan Hayes. This was a rare competitive field, as this award has gone for the last decade to St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado, but he struggled in the field in 2023 and wasn’t nominated for a Gold Glove.
Michael Harris II was a finalist in centerfield, with the award going to Brenton Doyle of the Colorado Rockies. Doyle graded out as the best defensive player in all of baseball by some measures, and earned his first Gold Glove with exceptional glove work in Coors Field.
Eddie Rosario was a finalist in left field, with the award going to Ian Happ of the Chicago Cubs.
The only active Gold Glove winners on the Atlanta Braves roster are starting pitcher Max Fried, who won the NL’s Gold Glove for pitchers in each of the three previous seasons (2020, 2021, & 2022) but was not eligible for the award this year, and DH Marcell Ozuna, who won for left field while with the Marlins in 2017.
