Who will win 2023 AL MVP?
Shohei Ohtani had a chance at a unanimous AL MVP triumph, but the two-way star was shut down by the Los Angeles Angels in September after UCL and oblique injuries. As a result, some votes are likely to be cast elsewhere. Old-school voters often penalize players on non-playoff teams, which works against Ohtani’s unanimous AL MVP hopes.
Texas Rangers duo Corey Seager and Marcus Semien may receive first-place AL MVP votes because of their red-hot finishes to the regular season. Their production elevated their team in a tight playoff race, though the Rangers’ inability to lock down the AL West division crown dented their faint MVP chances.
Seager led the AL in doubles despite spending a month on the Injured List. Semien led the AL in hits and runs, and his defense was stellar at second base.
Still, Ohtani’s ability to pitch and hit at a high level means he will probably win AL MVP. According to Baseball Reference, he was worth 10 wins over replacement (WAR) – almost three more than any other competitor.
Who won ALCS MVP?
Texas Rangers outfielder Adolis Garcia won ALCS MVP for 2023 after setting a single-series MLB playoff record for RBIs with 15. He blasted home runs in the final four games of the seven-game set against the Houston Astros, helping his team advance to the World Series.
Who will win 2023 NL MVP?
The 2023 NL MVP race was a thriller. Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts and Braves outfielder Acuna each have strong cases. Acuna is expected to win it, but an upset triumph by Betts could be on the cards.
They led the two best teams in the NL, so team records are a wash. Betts ended the campaign batting .307 with 39 home runs, 107 RBIs, 14 stolen bases and a bWAR of 8.4. He is considered a better defender than Acuna.
But Acuna will likely win because his power and speed production were unprecedented. He delivered 41 home runs, 106 RBIs and 73 stolen bases. His bWAR of 8.1 was comparable to Betts. Even though voters have embraced advanced stats more than they did a decade ago, Acuna’s eye-popping 40-70 season was likely too juicy to snub.
Who won NLCS MVP?
Ketel Marte won 2023 NLCS MVP after hitting safely in all seven games. His honor was announced right after Game 7 between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Philadelphia Phillies on Oct. 24.
Voters usually choose a player from the team that wins the series, and entering the final game, Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber were the frontrunners for the Phillies, while Marte and Alek Thomas were considered most likely to earn the honor if the Diamondbacks advanced. Marte was ultimately the choice; he went 1-for-5 with a double in Game 7 and finished the series batting .387.
Who won World Series MVP for Rangers vs Diamondbacks?
Corey Seager won World Series MVP for the Rangers after they claimed their first-ever championship. It’s the second time in his career he’s earned the award, placing him in elite company (he previously did so with the Dodgers). Hall of Famers Sandy Koufax, Bob Gibson and Reggie Jackson are the only players who had previously won it more than once.
At 29 years old, Seager is already seen as one of the most impressive October performers in baseball history.
The race for World Series MVP was complicated by Adolis Garcia’s oblique injury, which led the Rangers to remove him from the roster. He was the initial favorite to win the award after delivering the walk-off home run in Game 1 while reaching base on five other occasions in just three appearances.
Ultimately, though, Seager was the clear choice. He provided the dramatic game-tying home run in the ninth inning of Game 1 and mashed four extra-base hits, including three long balls, in the five-game series. He also broke up Zac Gallen’s no-hitter in the decider.
Who will win 2023 AL Cy Young?
New York Yankees right-hander Gerrit Cole will probably win the AL Cy Young in a landslide. His traditional box score stats – a 15-4 record with a 2.63 ERA and over 200 innings pitched – are a step above the other contenders. He finished his campaign with a complete game shutout against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Still, Luis Castillo, Sonny Gray and Kevin Gausman are in the mix and could garner a few first-place votes given their underlying metrics and their teams’ relative success compared with the Yankees.
Who will win 2023 NL Cy Young?
The San Diego Padres were a chaotic mess this season. Still, Blake Snell is set to lock down the second Cy Young of his career. He went 14-9 with an MLB-best 2.25 ERA among starters.
Snell’s journey to a phenomenal year was remarkable, considering he posted an ERA over 4.00 twice since he won the Cy Young in 2018. It’s also unusual that he’s a Cy Young frontrunner despite not making the All-Star team.
Who will win 2023 AL Rookie of the Year?
This one won’t be close. Baltimore Orioles infielder Gunnar Henderson is going to win in a landslide. Before the start of the last weekend of the season, he hit .255 with 28 home runs, 10 stolen bases and 82 RBIs. And his playoff-qualifying team was among the most exciting stories of 2023.
Who will win 2023 NL Rookie of the Year?
There were murmurs in the first few months of the season that Carroll could make a charge at MVP. That chatter proved premature, as Betts, Acuna and a few other veterans leaped above him in the pecking order. Still, NL Rookie of the Year will be a great consolation for the Diamondbacks outfielder.
Carroll delivered a 25-homer, 50-stolen base season while playing above-average defense. The Diamondbacks would not have made the postseason without him.
Who will win 2023 NL Manager of the Year?
Because Manager of the Year is a regular-season honor, Arizona Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo does not get extra credit for guiding his team to the World Series. Still, he will be in the running because he helped turn a 74-88 team from 2022 into one that reached the postseason in 2023 despite minimal big-money free agent acquisitions.
Cincinnati Reds manager David Bell, Chicago Cubs manager David Ross and Miami Marlins manager Skip Schumaker are also likely to get votes for leading clubs expected to finish below .500 to winning records.
Who will win 2023 AL Manager of the Year?
Baltimore Orioles skipper Brandon Hyde is the overwhelming favorite to claim 2023 AL Manager of the Year. The Orioles won 101 games after not reaching 85 wins since 2016, and his leadership was a significant part of their success.
But Texas Rangers manager Bruce Bochy will also likely receive some voting love as he navigated high expectations for a team that had underperformed the previous year to earn a wild-card spot.

How are MLB’s awards decided?
The Baseball Writers’ Association of America determines the MVP, Cy Young and Manager of the Year award winners through a voting process. A group of 30 voters from local BBWAA chapters around the country submit ballots before the start of the postseason. All ballots are made public when results are revealed in November.
Membership in the BBWAA typically requires active coverage of baseball for approved publications; the full set of guidelines for participation can be found on the organization’s website.
Meanwhile, Gold Glove awards are determined by MLB managers and assistant coaches. These votes are confidential.
