Steve Cooper raves about ‘fantastic’ Nottingham Forest star.
Steve Cooper has delivered his verdict on Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White. The attacker has been striving to hit his very best form and his head coach feels he’s getting close.
The 23-year-old didn’t get much recovery time during the summer. He helped the England under-21 team win the European Championships and that cut into the pre-season campaign with Forest.
Gibbs-White was handed a rest earlier this month against Brentford but he’s been back in the team for the last two games. The player is also set to play against Liverpool this afternoon.
The player signed for Forest from Wolves shortly after the 2022/23 campaign had got underway. He could eventually cost the club around £40 million, with a £25 million fee paid to Wolves upfront.
Cooper hails Forest star Gibbs-White
A lack of goals and assists certainly hasn’t been through a lack of trying for Gibbs-White. The Forest man played a part in both goals against Luton last week and he does look to be edging back to his best.
Cooper agrees and ahead of today’s game, he told The Sun (Print Edition; page 68): “He’s played well the last couple of games. I certainly think he has played poorly at all. Goals and assists are what you need from attacking players. But his effort levels are fantastic.”
Gibbs-White is one of the most respected players in the dressing room at Forest. He’s adored by the fan base too and hopefully, he can find a way to score goals as the season progresses.
Gibbs White needs to stay in the team
Okay, so Cooper has perhaps alluded to the fact that Gibbs-White needs to score more goals and create more assists. However, he’s hit the nail on the head by praising his work rate.
Nobody works harder than Gibbs-White in the Forest team. Even when things don’t go according to play on a matchday, he’s always asking for the ball and never goes into hiding.
The challenge for Gibbs-White is consistency in the Forest team. If he can become more consistent when it comes to goal contributions, the Reds will have a serious player on their hands.
