2 Celtic stars facing loan exit jeopardy as last chance saloon beckons for star after ‘scramble……….
Because of the talent on the Hoops team, some players will have to skip out, which could result in loans.
Given that Mikey Johnston and Yuki Kobayashi’s futures at Celtic are in doubt, Brendan Rodgers has acknowledged that they may have gone out on loan during the summer transfer window.
During Rodgers’ first season as manager, Johnston came through Lennoxtown’s youth system and made his way into the starting lineup. The 2018–19 season proved to be successful for the then-19-year-old, as he scored five goals in just 14 league appearances. Nevertheless, opportunities have been scarce ever then, with only 33 games in the green and white shirt during that time. The fierce rivalry for spots at center-back, with at least six players ahead of him in the pecking order, prevented Kobayashi from being included in the Scottish Premiership squad list for the entire season. Furthermore, Rodgers acknowledged that the two were scheduled to move out on loan in the summer but that they could be able to secure a last-minute rescue before their futures are determined.
“For me with Mikey, it was just about being fit,” stated Rodgers. Prior to the window, there was some confusion regarding his potential loan, as he was recovering from a severe back issue for which he had not received proper training.
He had to demonstrate to me that he could maintain his strength, stamina, and football fitness between the end of the window and January. We’ll see if we can get him some playing time because he’s a good player.Luckily, he was able to accomplish that. He traveled with the national team and played minutes; we’ll see whether he gets to see more action between now and January. Every day in training, he has the opportunity to demonstrate that, and he looks strong.
On behalf of Kobayashi, Rodgers acknowledged that although the Japanese defender was working hard in training, the team is overflowing with talented center backs, and there isn’t room for him.
He went on, “I only have eleven players.” The squad is simply too large; I cannot possibly put every player into a squad for a match day. He is undoubtedly a very professional person. To be fair to Yuki, he was going to go out on loan, but right before he left, he got hurt. It’s not like he’s doing something improper; he’s training incredibly well. His work ethic is incredibly strong and he has a great attitude.
