Taiwo Awoniyi, a striker for Nottingham Forest, is “progressing well” in his healing from an injury.
Just before the international break, the Reds striker missed the match at Crystal Palace due to a groin injury he sustained in the draw with Brentford. He might return to training soon after being out of commission for around a month.
Gonzalo Montiel, a full-back, might also be sidelined for Forest’s match against Luton Town on Saturday. This week, when representing his nation against Peru, the Argentine was forced off the field.
Serge Aurier is unlikely to take on the Hatters as well. He was substituted in throughout the half during Selhurst Park’s 0-0 tie.
Regarding Montiel, head coach Steve Cooper stated, “He’s just recently returned to the country.” We’ll evaluate it in-house. According to the preliminary scans, there appears to be a calf damage.

The Reds have been without Ola Aina (muscle), Nuno Tavares (groin), Danilo (hamstring), and Felipe (knee). After going four games without a win, Cooper’s team hosts Luton at the City Ground with the intention of returning to winning ways.

Watford boss Valerian Ismael says he turned down the chance to sign Nottingham Forest attacker Emmanuel Dennis in the summer.
Dennis was among the players who left the City Ground in the transfer window amid the Reds’ squad reshuffle. He joined Turkish outfit Istanbul Basaksehir on a season-long loan, little more than 12 months after he had put pen to paper for Forest.
The 25-year-old had joined Steve Cooper’s side from the Hornets in August 2022. And according to Ismael, he could have ended up back at Vicarage Road.
Dennis’ name was mentioned as a possible alternative, according to the Watford manager, as the team tried to bolster its front line. However, he turned down the chance to sign the Reds player. When his name appeared on my desk, I declined. Ismael told the Watford Observer, “Simple as that.”
Dennis has so far appeared in four league games for Basaksehir. Of those, two have appeared in the starting lineup. He hasn’t yet discovered the net’s reverse.
Having failed to make an impression during his tenure at Forest, he was mainly limited to a substitute role last season, making 16 of his 25 appearances in the Garibaldi coming off the bench. Twice, he scored—once against Newcastle United and once against Aston Villa.
The Nigerian is still bound to the City Ground by contract. Although it was not stated when he signed, the contract was reportedly four years long.
