After expressing interest in the Ukrainian in the previous window, the Hoops are keeping an eye on him.

According to a report, Celtic are keeping an eye on Andriy Lunin, the substitute goalie for Real Madrid.

The Ukrainian started the first two La Liga games for the Spanish powerhouses this season, but he hasn’t played since, and the Hoops are reportedly considering making a transfer swoop. According to The Daily Record, Madrid were interested in the 24-year-old during the summer transfer window but were hesitant to sell because he had started those initial league games alongside Thibaut Courtois.

Lunin had aspirations of being the starting goalie, but when Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizbalaga was signed on a season-long loan, Lunin was relegated to the bench. He is apparently still being monitored and analyzed by the Celts scouting staff in preparation for a potential future transfer.

The nine-times capped goaltender, who joined Real from Zorya Luhansk in his own country five years ago, is rumored to be evaluating his future, which has the Scottish champions on high alert.

His tenure has been largely spent on loans, where he gained experience at Leganes, Valladolid, and Oviedo.

Joe Hart is the Celtic’s starting goalkeeper at the moment, but questions have been raised about his appropriateness for the position following some high-profile mistakes in European games and a perception of a lack of skill with the ball in his feet. Nevertheless, the Englishman has been in great form this season, at least domestically.

Hart’s contract expires the following summer, and his backups are Benjamin Siegrist and Scott Bain.
