Celtic fans react as Rangers appoint Philippe Clement.
On Sunday, Celtic supporters responded to the news that Rangers had appointed Philippe Clement as their next manager on social media.
Rangers have named the 49-year-old as Michael Beale’s permanent replacement after he was fired earlier this month.
Before joining Monaco, where he was fired in June after the club finished sixth in France, the Belgian manager had previously had success at Genk and Club Brugge.
After being signed by Monaco in January 2022, he guided the team to Champions League qualification in his first six months, although his first full season as manager was not as successful.
Rangers will now be led by Clement in Scotland as they try to close the seven-point deficit to Celtic that has developed after just eight league games.
The former Monaco manager will also be responsible for Rangers’ Europa League campaign, as the team is now third in its group after two games.
On social media, Celtic supporters swiftly arrived to share their opinions on their opponents’ most recent managerial choice.
Some fans made a direct prediction that Clement would follow Beale’s example and be fired before Christmas.
Others made the decision to make their opponents angry by implying they were “thrilled” about the appointment.
Some people had obviously never even heard of Clement…
The media frenzy that will follow Clement’s arrival at Ibrox has one Celtic supporter on guard.
This supporter predicted Celtic will ‘easily’ win the league both this season and the following season while making fun of Rangers supporters’ enthusiasm during prior games.
