As a loan midfielder seizes the opportunity to excel internationally, Paulo Bernardo sends a reminder to Celtic.
The midfielder scored a goal for himself in the second half.
Since joining Celtic on loan from Benfica in the summer, he has played just 42 minutes, but Paulo Bernardo has reminded the world of his abilities while serving his country.
He started for Portugal U21s, played 76 minutes in the team’s crushing victory over Belarus, and scored a goal as well. He had a strong performance while performing in the middle of the park. He scored in the second half to give the young Portuguese team a 4-1 lead after they had led 3-1 at the time.
Although they didn’t have it all their own way, they did have 77 percent of the ball for the whole of the game, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the midfielders excelled by controlling the ball well. Prior to Maksim Kasarab’s equalizer for Belarus, Renato Veiga had scored the game’s opening goal.
Portugal led at halftime thanks to goals from Francisco Conceicao of Porto and Fabio Silva of Wolves, and it was Bernardo’s turn to shine after that.
The Celtic loanee curled the ball into the goal with a superb finish after picking it up at the edge of the box. Look at it below.
