Following the usage of ‘illicit banners’ by Celtic supporters at last week’s match against Lazio, the club is now dealing with additional UEFA charges.

As the teams emerged from the tunnel for the Champions League match, which the Italians won 2-1, a sizable display appeared in the area of Parkhead that houses the Green Brigade prior to kickoff.

The major part of the sign read: “Antifascist Glasgow Celtic” and contained numerous messages, some in English and some in Italian.

Brigate Verde and “Lazio vaffanculo” were written in smaller font on the inner circle of the display. ‘Green Brigade’ and ‘Lazio f*** off’ are the literal translations of this.

The regulatory body of European football has taken note of the use of fireworks during the game and is considering taking action against the tifo.

The Daily Mail has verified that charges are being considered after a probe was started against the Scottish champions by UEFA’s Control, Ethics, and Disciplinary body.

The new allegations are in reference to Uefa rule 16.2.e, which states: “The use of gestures, words, objects, or any other means to transmit a provocative message that is not fit for a sports event, particularly provocative messages that are of a political, ideological, religious, or offensive nature.”

For the upcoming derby match between the two teams, Celtic are reportedly prepared to deny Rangers’ request for away fan tickets.

According to reports, Rangers will ask the Parkhead club for 800 tickets for the two sides’ upcoming holiday match on December 30.

For the first derby match of the season at the beginning of September, the Ibrox club gave Celtic the same allocation to their fans.
