On Saturday afternoon, Celtic’s 3-1 victory over Kilmarnock helped them extend their lead over the competition. Following the game, Brendan Rodgers was satisfied with his team’s performance but displeased with the refs.

Greg Taylor appeared to have been fouled in the moments before the visitors scored their second goal, but referee Matthew McDermid made no decision. Rodgers acknowledged his surprise at the goal’s standing after the game. I don’t think it was a goal, he stated, according to Glasgow Times and BBC Radio Scotland. The fourth official and a VAR team are evaluating it even though the referee did not see it. I’m not sure from where they were glancing. I’ve heard that they were watching when the young man sent the ball to their striker, but the foul occurred earlier.

It was regrettable that a goal that might not have stood on another day caused the champs’ perfect record to be ruined. Additionally, it was troubling to see that VAR was only examining the goal from the moment the pass preceding it was made because the infraction occurred during the same play period.

However, on a more positive note, it had no impact on the final score of the game or the fact that the Celts are currently leading St. Mirren and Rangers by seven and 10 points, respectively, in the league standings. Tomorrow’s meeting between the two teams is one that the Bhoys will be closely watching.
