Here is the current list of Newcastle United players who will not be traveling to West Ham United due to injury or suspension.
With five wins and a draw in their last six games across all competitions, Newcastle enters the game at the London Stadium on Sunday (2pm kick-off) in excellent form. On Wednesday, The Magpies secured a historic 4-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain at St James’ Park. However, The Magpies return to Premier League action with a number of injury concerns.
Although Anthony Gordon has undoubtedly been Newcastle’s best player thus far, he won’t be traveling to West Ham on Sunday since he received his fifth caution of the year against Burnley on Saturday.
Expected return date: 21/10 for Crystal Palace (H).
(hamstring) Callum Wilson
Due to a’very slight’ hamstring injury, Callum Wilson has missed Newcastle’s last three games, according to Eddie Howe. The forward’s return to action before the international break had always been the manager of the Magpies’ greatest wish, but he now says the player is still questionable for Sunday’s game.
West Ham United (A) is anticipated to return in 08/10.
(Hamstring) Joelinton
When Joelinton came off the bench last Saturday against Burnley, he only played for less than four minutes before suffering a hamstring injury.
The hamstring problem, according to Howe, is not too serious because the player still has a late fitness test for West Ham.
Expected return date: 21/10 for Crystal Palace (H).
(Knee) Sven Botman
The last three games have also been missed by Dutch defender Sven Botman, who will now likely be out for a further two weeks with a knee injury.
Expected return date: 21/10 for Crystal Palace (H).
(ACL’s) Emil Krafth
Since Emil Krafth is still recovering from a significant knee injury, he was not included in Newcastle’s Champions League roster.
The right-back, though, has improved significantly over the past two weeks since returning to training and even participating in last Friday’s Under-21 match for 45 minutes. Although he is theoretically healthy, it can still take a few weeks for him to recover and be ready to participate in first-team games.
Expected return date: 21/10 for Crystal Palace (H).
(Achilles) Joe Willock
Due to an Achilles injury, Joe Willock has not played for Newcastle since May and is expected to miss at least another month.
He will be trying to return to the Champions League in time for the November trip to Borussia Dortmund. Last season, Willock originally sustained a hamstring ailment before encountering a setback with a new Achilles issue.
Manchester United (A) is anticipated to return on January 11.
(Foot) Harvey Barnes
Following the findings of a scan on Monday, Harvey Barnes will require three months of rest due to a foot issue. Although the 25-year-old winger doesn’t need surgery, Eddie Howe has stated that the player won’t be ready to practice again until late December.
Return anticipated in January 2024
