Local media now praise 'bright' Leeds loanee after first start for his new club

After Tuesday’s 2-0 victory over Cardiff City, in which Greenwood finally received his full club debut, Carrick spoke to mfc.co.u

Greenwood transferred on loan to the Riverside in the final 48 hours of the transfer window, but up until Tuesday night, he could only make cameo appearances.

In fact, this was his first competitive start since being replaced at halftime of Leeds’ 2-2 draw with Newcastle United back in May.

After beginning the friendly match against Manchester United, Greenwood spent the majority of the preseason at Leeds sidelined. Later, before joining Boro, he was given brief cameos against West Brom and Salford City.

After the game, Carrick praised Greenwood for his effort and expressed the opinion that he still has a lot to offer given how long it had been since his last start.

I believed Sam had a lot more to offer because, despite it being his first start in a while, he adapted to the game quite well. We are excited to observe that.
