‘What we need’ – Erik ten Hag outlines Manchester United aim for Carabao Cup.

The manager of Manchester United hasn’t been afraid to maintain high standards once more.

Erik ten Hag wants to win the Carabao Cup for a second time in a row and believes that beating Crystal Palace in Manchester United’s opening matchup would give his team some momentum going forward.

The Dutchman won the title last year, defeating Newcastle 2-0 at Wembley on the strength of goals from Casemiro and Marcus Rashford, ending United’s six-season trophy drought.

Although Ten Hag is sure to approve a lot of changes prior to Saturday’s Premier League matchup with the Eagles in this week’s doubleheader, the pair may play versus Palace on Tuesday night. The United manager still wants to go for the kill, though.

Ten Hag comments in his pre-game programmed, “It is only a few months since we lifted the Carabao Cup at Wembley Stadium and we all remember what a great experience that was.

“Last season, it was a crucial match for us, and this year is no different. As Roy Hodgson and Crystal Palace visit tonight, we have the chance to continue progressing in the correct manner in order to protect the trophy.

Only three of United’s first seven games have ended in victories, including tight triumphs over Wolves, Nottingham Forest, and Burnley. On Saturday, the Reds kept their second clean sheet of the year against Burnley, and Ten Hag is hopeful the accomplishment, along with a victory over Palace, will give the team momentum.

He continues, “We obviously want to win to go to the fourth round, but it’s also critical for us to build on the successful performance and outcome we earned at Burnley on Saturday night.

We need consistency today, not just between games but also inside games. Even in our losses this season, we have had some strong moments and displayed genuine talent, only to fall short when it mattered most. After displaying a lot of grit at Turf Moor, we must now follow one successful outcome with another and continue to advance.
