According to BBC Sport, a further scan revealed the full amount of the damage, and Barnes is now waiting to hear whether surgery will be required. Eddie Howe, the manager of Newcastle, went into detail about the injury, saying, “It’s an injury to a section of the foot just below the toe. It seems like quite a serious injury to me. Howe continued by saying, “I won’t go too technical because I’m not qualified to do so, but yes it’s a very unusual injury.” This further clarified the ailment’s complexity.
After the game, Barnes’ plight was clear, and Howe noted that the player’s quick reaction was different from that of ordinary muscular ailments. He was depressed after the game, according to Howe, since he realized it wasn’t a typical injury where you feel a muscle and assume it will take one to two weeks to heal.
