Newcastle United failed in their pursuit of Luka Vuskovic
Due to Luka Vuskovic’s decision to join Tottenham Hotspur, a 16-year-old, Newcastle United was unable to sign him.
Newcastle United intended to sign Luka Vuskovic but were unable to reach an agreement with the Croatian team Hajduk Split, according to a Football Insider report. The adolescent star has finally signed with Tottenham Hotspur, who have been considering signing him for some time.
At the Croatian club, Vuskovic has advanced through the levels. Earlier this year, the 16-year-old was elevated to their first team. For the senior team, he has appeared in a total of 11 games and has even scored a goal.
His outstanding efforts were well received, and for quite some time, there has been a great deal of interest in his services. Despite having three years left on his contract, he was anticipated to transfer soon. The star of Croatia’s Under-17 team has also reached a deal with Tottenham. For Vuskovic, Spurs will give Split £8.7 million. He is anticipated to join the group when he reaches 18 in the summer of 2025.
Ange Postecoglou, the new manager of the London club, is concerned about having enough defensive depth after last season’s defensive struggles.
To strengthen Tottenham’s defense, the Australian manager has already bought a few defenders. He has also included the 16-year-old who might eventually be able to assist them.
Newcastle United, however, was eager to add Vuskovic to their team. Even before Spurs made an agreement to hire the young phenom, the Magpies were interested in signing him. But they were unable to finish it in time.
Following their takeover, they signed some talented young players. Garang Kuol and Yankuba Minteh have joined Eddie Howe’s team, although they were unable to sign the Croatian youth international.
