Report: Juventus tried to exchange Vlahovic with PSG star last summer, but faced two obstacles.
We all know that Juventus tried to swap Dusan Vlahovic for Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea last summer. Eventually, the agreement fell through, and the Serbian stayed in Turin while the Belgian finalized a loan transfer to Roma.
However, it seems the Bianconeri also wanted to include their striker in other swap agreements.
TuttoMercatoWeb claims that Juventus attempted to include Vlahovic in a trade for Gianluigi Donnarumma, the goalie for Paris Saint-Germain.
The Bianconeri have always coveted the Italian custodian. They have followed him since his time at Milan.
So when PSG pounced, asking about Vlahovic’s availability, Juventus reportedly seized the chance to attempt and recruit the Euro 2020 hero to Turin.
However, as the story says, the Old Lady’s preparations were hampered by two issues.
The Italian powerhouses argued first that Vlahovic has a higher transfer value than Donnarumma, necessitating the inclusion of a fee to the equation. The French champs, however, refused to make a payment.
The second difficulty was Gigio’s high pay. The Old Lady cannot afford the 12 million euros the custodian now makes each season.
These two factors therefore prohibited the swap deal from succeeding. So, after the conclusion of the transfer window, every player was still with his current club.
