Erik ten Hag’s reasons for banishing Jadon Sancho emerge as Man Utd stars issue plea.
Jadon Sancho’s teammates have been trying to get him to apologize to the manager, but Erik ten Hag has banned him from using Manchester United’s facilities.
Winger Sancho used social media to dispute manager Ten Hag’s assertion that he was left off the team for United’s 3-1 loss at Arsenal earlier this month due to subpar workout efforts. Ten Hag banned him from first-team practices and benched him for United’s match against Brighton.
The England international missed the matchday squads for the following games against Bayern Munich and Burnley, and he won’t join the team again unless Ten Hag receives an apology. He will also miss the midweek matchup against Crystal Palace in the EFL Cup.
Sancho’s United teammates have made an effort to convince him to change his mind and apologize to the manager for the benefit of everyone. Marcus Rashford, Harry Maguire, and Luke Shaw, all members of England’s national team, are among those who think the winger should soften his attitude and make a concession.
The dining room at United as well as other first-team facilities are off limits to the 23-year-old. Ten Hag took the measure because he did not want a disgruntled player spreading criticism and creating strife within his team.
Ten Hag’s attitude on Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo’s from over a year ago has some similarities. The Portuguese superstar was banned from the club’s facilities after he uninvitedly stormed down the tunnel and out of Old Trafford after being informed that he would be a late substitute against Tottenham.
Following that suspension, Ronaldo was kept out of United’s first-team squad for a Premier League match against Chelsea. A month later, he quit the team following an explosive interview in which he criticized the organization and its leadership. Ronaldo tried to reach his locker during his ban to get his flip-flops, but Ten Hag forbade him, so a member of the youth squad had to retrieve them.
Since finalizing his transfer from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2021, Sancho’s tenure at Old Trafford has been lackluster. He had become one of the Bundesliga’s stars, but he hasn’t been able to maintain that level of play at United.
In light of the current impasse between Sancho and management, questions are being raised about his future. Despite the winger’s wage demands and potential transfer fee, United are expected to be open to bids for him. However, his practical exit possibilities may be constrained by these factors.
