Tip drill! Semien homers with volleyball-style assist from Julio

RALEIGH — On Sunday, the Rangers continued to hit home runs even when they weren’t hitting them.

The Rangers hit a season-high five home runs in the first four innings of the series finale against the Mariners on Sunday. Marcus Semien hit a liner to straightaway center field at 102.2 mph in the fifth inning that appeared to be going out near the warning track. In an attempt to deny Semien of potential additional bases, Mariners All-Star center fielder Julio Rodriguez came close to reeling it in, but the ball bounced off the heel of his hand and over the center-field wall for Semien’s second home run of the day.

Adolis Garca, Corey Seager, and Leody Taveras all hit home runs for the Rangers, who led the Mariners 7-2 entering the fifth inning at Globe Life Field.
