Dan McNamara praises Wolves star for ‘leading from the front’ in 5-0 win against AFC Fylde

Sunday afternoon’s 5-0 victory over AFC Fylde in the FA Women’s National League is discussed by Wolves manager Dan McNamara.

Dan McNamara, the manager of Wolves, praised his team’s performance against AFC Fylde in the FA Women’s National League on Sunday as a response to their loss at Stoke City the previous week.

The hosts scored first after only nine minutes thanks to a goal from Tammi George in the first period. Just a few minutes later, Destiney Toussaint added a second goal, the first of her hat-trick in the first half.

The best of the lot was undoubtedly Toussaint’s third goal, which she scored after winning the ball back high and drilling a stunning strike from a distance into the top corner. Beth Merrick made it 5-0 just before halftime to complete an outstanding performance by Wolves.

“It was a great reaction,” McNamara said after the game to BirminghamLive. “I requested the girls’ opinions in light of last week. We weren’t pleased with the performance or the quality (against Stoke).

“We asked for a reaction like that, and we truly dominated that first half. I’m happy because of the excellent way they carried out the strategy.

Toussaint earned the Player of the Match award for her clinical performance in front of goal, but before she was replaced on the hour, Wolves found her attacking creativity to be a continuous threat.

The manager concluded by calling Desteney a leader, summarizing her work. She informed the group that she was unhappy with the performance from the previous week. Talk about taking responsibility for the circumstance.

“There are three persons who have done that this week without a doubt: Destiney, Helen Dermody, and Morph (Anna Morphet). Destiney has taken the lead today in their efforts to right the wrong and demonstrate that it was only a mistake.

“She was great, in my opinion. a strong leader who was motivated to work hard and brought true intensity to all she did. I’m happy for her and hope she can carry that into the upcoming games as she generated her own opportunities for two of the goals.
