Following late goals from Robert Lewandowski and Joao Cancelo against an excellent Celta Vigo team, FC Barcelona triumphs 3-2 in the end. Barcelona proved why they have the winning mindset that so many people claim this club to have in a contest that was exhilarating from beginning to end.
Barcelona and Xavi made sure they defeated Rafa Benitez’s team in front of the home crowd at the Montjuic Stadium despite a shaky start to the game and extended periods where practically everything they tried seemed to fail. This was made possible by several outstanding performances.
Ter Stegen received a score of 7.0.
One could argue that the German should have done a better job on Celta Vigo’s opening goal. Aside from that incident, the German goalkeeper did everything that was required of him, including holding his ground and making accurate passes.
5.0 for Marcos Alonso
In terms of his performance, Alonso was somewhat stale. His change was one of the most obvious ones as the second half began since he was almost too predictable and one-dimensional to challenge Celta Vigo.
7.0 Jules Kounde
The 24-year-old defender occasionally came across as sluggish, but the Frenchman’s tenacity frequently assisted Barcelona in keeping the area around their goal under control defensively, and he even made care to include progressive components in his contributions against Celta Vigo.
6.5 Andreas Christensen

Romeu made sure on multiple times that Celta Vigo did not get an easy shot at Ter Stegen’s goal, where the veteran’s last-second challenges possibly rescued La Blaugrana from losing more despite not appearing to be at his positional best throughout the game, particularly the first half.
7.5 Ilkay Gundogan
The German was having trouble at first, but he soon found his groove and, by the conclusion of the game, almost made Barcelona feel like a very different and agile club. Barcelona was able to react considerably better as the game went on thanks to his teammates’ connections with one another and their ability to hook up with others around them.
6.5 Ferran Torres
Made some promising runs and ought to have even scored for Barcelona with one of them, but the ‘Shark’ definitely lacked some bite tonight. He was eventually replaced by Brazilian winger Raphinha around the 70th minute because Xavi thought the latter gave his team more against Celta Vigo.
